/r/seattleWA Social media. Tell us what you want.

Hey everyone. It has been quite a week.I wanted to get some feedback from our community as it's about ten thousand people larger. Welcome.Lots of people are really mad, really happy, really entertained, or really something else right now. That's all as expected. A lot of it is spilling over into social media so as we're on our third day of trending, I wanted to solicit input from the /r/SeattleWA community so that we can provide what you want in an effort to try to please as many people as possible. Here's what I know. Our first efforts at hitting the usual suspects are in the sidebar now and are basically rss aggregators of the reddit feed on twitter, facebook, blogspot, and tumblr.I tossed up a discord instance as it's available on every platform and is easy to manage. There has been a desire for a closed/private facebook group, but I don't have an active facebook account, so I didn't create that. There are existing groups, but people have previously complained about them in previous SotS threads. I, having been in them in the past and met the people involved, understand some of their complaints and think there's something to them.We want to enable community and prevent some of the more common and popular abuse methods like deleting posts without cause, giving favoritism or otherwise being unfair, and being open and welcoming. At the same time, we'll need to have some measure of protection from theft/abuse of the accounts themselves. This implies some kind of central control of credentials, but we're not sure how that should work yet. For now, it's /u/YopparaiNeko who is the keeper of the vault, so please direct your amazing social engineering attacks and bribes his way. He loves the attention. Is there anything people want done in community building with social media? Anything you don't want done?I'll make some subthreads here to get us started. Please share your thoughts and concerns. We're here to serve you.Let's make this a formal discussion about social media, so lets please focus on these topics. via /r/SeattleWA http://ift.tt/2dEfGZh
