HAZ MAT – This morning fire and police crews responded to a hazardous materials response at the Symetra high rise on NE 8th St and 108th Ave NE. A white powder/brown viscous substance was discovered in the mailroom. Fire Dept. Haz-Mat technicians analyzed the substance and discovered it tested negative for biological hazard. Further tests will occur to specifically identify the product. Five patients were evaluated on scene. Four showed minor symptoms and were not transported to the hospital. One patient that was not in the vicinity of the substance was transported to the hospital for chest discomfort. In all over 20 Fire Department units were on scene from seven agencies including the FBI.
