Howdy All.
I got let go this morning and after a good cry while riding my bike I am ready and steeled for the task at hand; searching for a job. For the past few years I've been doing the same thing, and I'm ready for a change of pace! Along with being really good at the thing I've been doing, I'm also bilingual, and seeing as I am a relatively young person, I figure there's no time like the present to try something new. So! I did a bit of research and applied to a few translating positions. It's too early to have heard back already, but I'd like to pick the brains of anyone who has already found success translating here in Seattle.
- how did you get started?
- how long did it take before you where making money?
- what kind of qualifications did you cite?
- what was your interview process like?
- what kind of translation work are/where you doing? Video game translating? Some other kind of media? Something in the medical field? Advocacy?
Thanks!
