Please stop with the "homeless in public parks" propaganda.

If you read the actual proposal, and not just what you heard at your neighborhood meeting or on the news... it says camps will not be allowed in unsuitable locations."“Unsuitable location” means a public space that has a specific public use that is substantially impeded as a result of an outdoor living space in that location. Improved areas of City parks, including restored natural areas or natural areas actively undergoing restoration, and public sidewalks in front of houses and dwelling units are per se unsuitable. Sidewalks in commercial areas are prohibited to sitting and lying during certain hours under SMC 15.48.040."In other words, stop downvoting me for calling you all what you are: a bunch of NIMBYs. You want the homeless out of Seattle? They need homes. There's a process and it doesn't go from 0% to 100% overnight.instead of wasting money literally clearing up camps for them to return in a week, we should invest in homes. what the city council proposal does is say they can't just be kicked out of an encampment without being sent somewhere specific. by being against this proposal and spreading lies about it, you're actually making the problem worse. via /r/SeattleWA http://ift.tt/2e5FGso
